John Terry has admitted that he is 'delighted' by the way that Chelsea repeatedly held off Everton to secure three points this evening.
The Blues raced two goals ahead early on at Goodison Park, and despite the hosts putting in a valiant effort to overturn that deficit, Chelsea eventually prevailed 6-3 in a thrilling Premier League contest.
"The way we kept responding was excellent and something we did not have last year so that delights me more than anything," Terry told Sky Sports News. "At times we have dropped points against the lesser sides and we have not done well here the last few years.
"To come here and get the win and the manner of the performance is great for the team. The belief has been there since day one. We have started very well and it is important because the boys go away in the international break and it was important we got the win today and we got it brilliantly.
"Defensively we might get a bit of a telling off from the manager. I am fighting to stay and remain in this great team. It is down to me to keep fighting and hopefully keep playing well."
Chelsea, who now sit at the top of the league table following this victory, return to league action with a home match against Swansea City in two weeks time.
