Pochettino: 'Forest defeat will help Chelsea mature'

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he did not feel frustrated as Chelsea lost to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.

With victories over Luton Town and AFC Wimbledon, the Blues had started to build some momentum ahead of a fixture that they would have regarded as a must-win to keep in close proximity to the teams at the top of the division.

However, Chelsea would instead fall to defeat, Anthony Elanga's cool finish shortly after half time proving decisive as Forest secured a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, the West Londoners find themselves in 11th position in the standings ahead of the remaining three fixtures that will take place on Sunday.

Nevertheless, Pochettino has indicated that he is not paying too much attention to the league table at the present time, suggesting that the loss to the East Midlands side will benefit his young squad in the long term.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, as quoted by football.london, the Argentine said: "Today I think we create chances, I think we dominate the game but at the end we were not clinical enough in the last third.

"We should score if we want to win, and made one mistake and concede a goal. Yes, disappointed but not frustrated. This time in process, always you need some luck in some situation."

Pochettino later added: "This type of game will help us to be more mature and learn the competition. It is not only to have quality, after it's about to compete in a different way.

"To match their aggression to match energy, to match desire. Of course we were better, we cannot say that we didn't deserve but in football the stats sometimes reflect what you do but in that case we create but we didn't score, few shots on target and we should have more."

Chelsea are not back in action until they square off against Bournemouth on the South coast on September 17.
