Nigel Pearson not ruling out weakened team against Chelsea

Nigel Pearson suggests that Leicester City could field a weakened side against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Nigel Pearson has refused to rule out playing a weakened side when Leicester City face Chelsea on Wednesday night.

The Foxes have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone after four successive victories, the latest being a 1-0 win against fellow strugglers Burnley at Turf Moor.

However, with more potentially winnable games to come, Pearson will not confirm whether or not he will rest key players against the Premier League leaders.

"My focus is Leicester City, we will always do what is best for us," he is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. "If we need to freshen it up, we will. [David] Nugent is injured, [Jeffrey] Schlupp is injured, [Jamie] Vardy had an injection in his foot just before the game. We will assess it.

"All we are interested in is that our fate is now in our hands and the longer we can keep that, the better the chance we have of surviving. All I'm interested in is keeping our players focused on winning games."

Leicester are now out of the bottom three for the first time since November.
