Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that he will not risk midfielder Frank Lampard, who is recovering from an Achilles injury.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he will not take any "risks" with Frank Lampard's fitness.

The midfielder, who has been struggling with an Achilles injury, did not feature in any pre-season matches in Asia, and Mourinho has revealed that he will only play a small part in their upcoming fixtures in the US.

"Frank is recovering but of course we don't want to take risks," the Daily Star quotes Mourinho as saying. "Hopefully he plays, I won't say the second match but maybe the third or fourth."

Lampard's lack of match-time could put him out of England's upcoming friendly against Scotland.
