Jose Mourinho denies Football Association charge

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho denies an FA charge in relation to comments that he made in the wake of his team's defeat to Sunderland on April 19.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has denied a Football Association charge of improper conduct in relation to comments that he made following his side's recent defeat to Sunderland.

The Portuguese appeared to sarcastically congratulate referee Mike Dean and referees' chief Mike Riley after a late penalty saw the Blues lose 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on April 19.

Mourinho has requested a non-personal hearing, the date of which will be set in due course.

Meanwhile, Chelsea assistant coach Rui Faria has admitted two misconduct breaches and has also requested a non-personal hearing.

Faria was sent off from the touchline after trying to confront referee Dean after Sunderland were awarded their winning penalty in the 82nd minute.
