Nemanja Matic: 'Difficult to recover from Bournemouth defeat'

Nemanja Matic admits that Chelsea will find it difficult to recover from Saturday's 1-0 loss to Bournemouth.

Nemanja Matic has admitted that Chelsea will find it difficult to recover from Saturday's 1-0 loss to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

The champions continued a disappointing campaign by suffering their eighth Premier League defeat of the season, and Jose Mourinho claimed after the game that their bid to finish in the top four could already be over.

Chelsea now switch their focus to Wednesday's meeting with Porto as they search for the win which will secure a spot in the Champions League knockout stage, but Matic concedes that their latest defeat will be hard to accept.

"I think we didn't deserve to lose the game but when you don't score a goal, you also don't deserve to win, so it was a difficult game for us," the Serbian told Chelsea TV.

"We are in a difficult moment and it is going to be hard to come back from this, but we have to try to resolve this situation and work hard and recover the situation."

Chelsea currently sit 14th in the table.
