David Luiz: 'Villas Boas sacked too early'

Chelsea's David Luiz has spoken out in support of former boss Andre Villas-Boas.

The Brazilian defender said that he was "sad" to see the former Porto manager leave the club, adding that his dismissal was premature, The Sun reports.

"I'm really sad, as Andre was a really capable professional. Unfortunately, he didn't have the time to show his true value at Chelsea," he said.

"He didn't have the chance. You cannot doubt a professional like him, who won five titles last season and was feted by everyone. But he didn't have enough time at Chelsea."

Luiz declared his love for Chelsea following Wednesday's Champions League 4-1 victory over Napoli.

Chelsea are next in action against Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday.
