Lampard, Abramovich 'set for face-to-face talks'

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will reportedly meet with Frank Lampard this week to discuss the legendary midfielder becoming the club's new manager.

Lampard is considered the leading candidate to succeed Maurizio Sarri, who left Stamford Bridge on Sunday to take over at Juventus after just 11 months in West London.

The Blues' leading all-time scorer has only one season of managerial experience under his belt, coming at Derby County last season, but The Sun claims that Chelsea are serious about putting him in charge.

Abramovich is rumoured to have invited Lampard to join him on his £380m yacht off Saint-Tropez, near where he is currently holidaying.

Chelsea have been warned that they face paying millions in compensation for the 40-year-old, however, as Derby chairman Mel Morris is not prepared to let him leave just a year into his three-year deal.

Former Chelsea managers Rafael Benitez and Jose Mourinho are also believed to be in the running to take charge, as are Erik ten Hag, Massimiliano Allegri and Nuno Espirito Santo.
