Paul Lambert: 'Aston Villa deserved something from the game'

Paul Lambert says that Aston Villa deserved a share of the spoils in their 2-1 loss at home to Chelsea.

Paul Lambert has said that Aston Villa deserved at least a point from their game at home against Chelsea this afternoon.

The Villans succumbed to a 2-1 loss at Villa Park after Branislav Ivanovic's second-half strike cancelled out Jores Okore's leveller, but Lambert has said that the result was not a true reflection of the game.

"I have mixed emotions because I thought we deserved something from the game, we played really well," Lambert told BBC Sport.

"In the second half it looked like only one team was going to get a win, but we conceded a really unfortunate goal.

"Our season will not be defined with what happened against Arsenal and Chelsea, it is about from now on in."

The result means that Villa have lost their last four league games.
