Chelsea legend John Terry has opened up about his difficult relationship with past manager Rafael Benitez, explaining that they "didn't get on from day one".
During his short spell with Chelsea, the Spaniard managed to guide them to Europa League glory as well as earning a third-place finish during the 2012-13 season.
However, Terry admits there was a sour relationship between the players and the former Liverpool boss from the very beginning.
The 39-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It was tough, I have to be honest. When he first came, I was really looking forward to working with Rafa initially.
"The supporters never took to him and wanted him out from day one. You could say he was quite successful, we won the Europa League under him of course, but for me personally you want to develop and learn.
"I'd seen tactically how he'd set up against us previously. You give everyone a fair chance and it's down to them to prove to you otherwise, but we just didn't get on from day one."
The former Blues skipper also explained that Benitez's constant references to his past success with Liverpool did not go down too well with the squad.
Since Benitez left the West London side, he has gone on to manage both Napoli and Real Madrid before returning to the Premier League with Newcastle United.
