Fernandinho: 'Win over Chelsea is the best way to start'

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho says that the club's emphatic 3-0 win over Chelsea has contributed to achieving a perfect start to their Premier League season.

Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has stated that the club's 3-0 victory over Premier League champions Chelsea was the perfect way to cap off an impressive opening start to the team's season.

The Sky Blues made it two wins from two games without conceding, as goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho made light work of Jose Mourinho's men at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

"It's a good way to start. Two wins from two games, six goals, none conceded. Beat the champions at home? It's the best way to start," said Fernandinho, according to BBC Sport.

"You can see on the pitch, every player works very hard during the week in training and then in matches. Two wins and I hope we can do that in the following games because we are fighting for the title.

"It's good because they are a good team, but our team is strong, we have a good team as well."

City's next domestic game sees them travel to face Everton at Goodison Park.
