Cesc Fabregas: 'I disliked John Terry very much when I was at Arsenal'

Cesc Fabregas admits that he disliked John Terry "very much" when the Spaniard was at Arsenal and the former England captain at Chelsea.

Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he disliked Chelsea stalwart John Terry during his time as an Arsenal player.

The Spain international came through the ranks at the North London club and became one of the Gunners' key players from 2004, when he broke into the first team, to 2011, when he joined Barcelona.

During his time at Arsenal, Fabregas often clashed with Terry when the two sides met in competitive action, but they became Blues teammates in 2014 when the former swapped Camp Nou for Stamford Bridge.

"He is the type of player that I had many battles with," Fabregas told Sky Sports News. "I disliked him very much at some point playing for Arsenal, we had a lot of confrontations, but one thing I always had for him was respect.

"I think it was maybe the most difficult season for him [last season], for a lot of reasons. He showed to be before a great man and then a great player. He showed he will always be a great captain for this team and I have to tell him a big, big, big thanks."

Terry left Chelsea this summer for Aston Villa after spending 19 seasons with the club and having made a total of 717 appearances in all competitions.
