Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen: 'I do not regret rejecting Chelsea'

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen says that he does not regret rejecting a move to Chelsea when he was 16 years old.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that he has no regrets turning down a move to Chelsea when he was a teenager.

The 24-year-old has become an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino's team at White Hart Lane following his £11m switch to Spurs from Ajax in 2013.

Before moving to Ajax, Eriksen had the chance to set up home at Stamford Bridge at the age of 16 while playing youth football for Danish side OB.

However, the midfielder, who also reportedly had trials at Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester United, believes that his career would have turned out differently had he made the jump to Chelsea when he was a teen.

"In Denmark, you are sure to play if you were good, but Ajax played you if you had the mentality and went 100% to it," Eriksen told Fyens. "It did not matter who you were. It was about getting better every day.

"If I had chosen Chelsea, then my situation today would be completely different. I'm sure. Of course you never say never, because I would have been 100 percent into it, if I had chosen it. I just felt that there was more chance to fail than succeed."

Eriksen, who is yet to score in the Premier League this season, has made 146 appearances for Tottenham so far.
