Chelsea's Diego Costa picks up award for Premier League Player of the Month

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for August after hitting early goalscoring form.

The Spain international signed for the West London outfit from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid in the summer for a reported figure of around £30m.

The 25-year-old, who was up against Cesc Fabregas, Andreas Weimann, Nathan Dyer and Gylfi Sigurdsson for the award, has found the back of the net four times in three top-flight games.

Chelsea currently sit at the top of the league table on nine points.
