Andreas Christensen sent back to London with "fatigue"

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen returns to London from international duty after suffering "fatigue".

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has returned to London from international duty after suffering "fatigue".

Denmark boss Age Hareide confirmed the news on Friday, telling reporters that he did not want to take risks with the 23-year-old.

"Andreas Christensen has been sent home to London. We do not want to take any risks with him," Hareide said. "We have called up Peter Ankersen and Lasse Nielsen, so we are adequately covered in defence. I cannot say exactly what is wrong with Christensen, but it is a little fatigue.

"It's not serious, but it can be. It is a bit frustrating because we would have liked to trial him in both central defence and as a defensive midfielder."

The news will worry Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who has used Christensen in the Blues' defence this term after dropping David Luiz in November.
