Salomon Kalou has said that he is hoping for more game time if he signs a new contract with Chelsea.
The 26-year-old, who joined the Blues in 2006, stands to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Although he has said that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge, he has been concerned by the lack of recent opportunities under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.
"That is what every player wants to have - game time," he said after scoring in Chelsea's 5-0 Champions League win against Genk. "Because if you are not playing every weekend, then how are you going to improve yourself?
"So it is very important to play to improve and to push yourself to the limit. That is what I am looking for."
Villas-Boas recently stated that he regards Kalou, who has piqued the interest of Arsenal and Liverpool, as a 'player of high importance'.
