Chelsea are looking to avoid their worst-ever start to a Champions League campaign when they play host to Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday.

Graham Potter will attempt to avoid an unwanted piece of history in his first game in charge of Chelsea on Wednesday.

Following the postponement of the weekend's Premier League action as a mark of respect to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Potter's first match as Chelsea boss will take place in the Champions League.

After losing 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb last week, which was Thomas Tuchel's last game as manager, Chelsea will look to claim the first points of their European campaign against Red Bull Salzburg at Stamford Bridge

The Blues have never lost their opening two Champions League games and a defeat on Wednesday would represent their worst-ever start in the competition.

Chelsea are also hoping to avoid consecutive defeats in the tournament for the first time since losing both last 16 legs to Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 campaign.

Despite falling to defeat in Croatia, the signs are still positive for Chelsea, who are currently unbeaten in their last eight home games in the Champions League.
