Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas avoids retrospective action

The Football Association says that Cesc Fabregas has avoided retrospective action for his part in a mass brawl between players from Chelsea and Manchester City.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has avoided retrospective action from the Football Association.

On Saturday afternoon, a wild tackle from Sergio Aguero on David Luiz sparked a mass brawl between players from Manchester City and Chelsea, with Aguero receiving a straight red card for the challenge.

However, Fabregas was involved in a confrontation with Fernandinho, who was sent off for pushing the Spaniard over one of the advertising hoardings at the Etihad Stadium.

The incident was reviewed by a panel of three former referees, but no further action will be taken after at least one of the trio decided that Fabregas's involvement only warranted a yellow card.

The FA has also confirmed that Fernandinho will serve a three-match suspension.
