Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez vows to improve the form of striker Fernando Torres by improving the team as a whole.

Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez has claimed that he will improve Fernando Torres's form for the club.

The Spanish striker has been disappointing since his £50 million move to the club from Liverpool.

"Fernando is a player who needs someone to put an arm around him. But this is not about Torres. It's about the team. If we can all improve then he will improve," said former Inter Milan coach Benitez.

"Everyone will agree the squad is strong here, good quality but I always think players can improve and if I do my job properly then it is good.

"I didn't build a team around Torres at Liverpool but we had players like Steven Gerrard who helped him."

Benitez's first match in charge is against Premier League champions Manchester City today.
