Carlo Ancelotti: 'No Chelsea contact over managerial role'

Ancelotti: 'No Chelsea contact'

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Chelsea have not approached him regarding the vacant managerial role at Stamford Bridge for a second stint in charge.

The Italian is one of several potential candidates to have been linked with replacing Jose Mourinho, who parted ways with the club yesterday, as they sit 16th in the Premier League table and just one point above the relegation zone.

However, Ancelotti has told The Guardian that the defending champions have not been in contact, amid heavy speculation that the 56-year-old will instead succeed Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.

Guus Hiddink has been tipped to take the reins on a temporary basis until a permanent successor is found, with former assistant manager Ray Wilkins branding him an "absolutely perfect" choice for the interim role.
