Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted to 'feeling sorry' for Tottenham Hotspur following his side's League Cup final victory this evening.
Spurs fell to a 2-0 defeat at Wembley to see their hopes of claiming a first piece of silverware since 2008 slip away from their grasp.
Mourinho was quick to praise the performance of Mauricio Pochettino's men, before hailing his own side, who are still on course to win an impressive treble this season.
"I am really happy," he told Sky Sports News. "I should start with Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino because he is building a great team. They gave us a great match and I feel sorry for them.
"My players were fantastic. Finals are not for playing they are for winning. We did not have problems. They had a couple of chances but nothing else. We knew we would be dangerous on the counter and we played like we should play a final."
There was some further good news for Chelsea earlier today with Manchester City, their closest challengers in the Premier League title race, dropping points in their meeting against an in-form Liverpool side.
