Chelsea dealt Mykhaylo Mudryk injury blow?

Chelsea dealt Mykhaylo Mudryk injury blow?

Chelsea have been handed an injury scare after Mykhaylo Mudryk was forced off in Ukraine's 1-1 draw with England.

The winger made his 12th international appearance in Saturday's contest, which saw the two nations share the spoils after Kyle Walker cancelled out Oleksandr Zinchenko's opener.

Mudryk looked set to play the duration of a game for the first time in international football, before he was replaced in the 90th minute by Yehor Nazaryna.

According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old pulled up with a calf issue and subsequently signalled to the bench that he needed to come off.

Ukraine are expected to assess the Chelsea man ahead of Tuesday's away game in Milan against European champions Italy.

While Ukraine boss Sergiy Rebrov will hope to have Mudryk available for the midweek fixture, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino will also be sweating on the player's fitness.

Pochettino is already having to contend with a lengthy injury list, which includes captain Reece James and summer signing Christopher Nkunku.

Marcus Bettinelli, Benoit Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka are all recovering from their own injury issues.

Armando Broja is still working his way back from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, while Wesley Fofana is out for an extended period after suffering the same injury as the Albania international.

Pochettino will be hoping to receive positive news regarding Mudryk's fitness ahead of Chelsea's return to Premier League action this weekend.

Mudryk, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, has struggled to find his best form since arriving at Stamford Bridge, registering just two assists in 20 competitive appearances.

However, he has provided Pochettino with a useful option off the bench in three of Chelsea's first four games of the Premier League season.

If he is passed fit, Mudryk is likely to be involved in some capacity when the Blues face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
