Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday night's FA Cup fifth round showdown with Liverpool.

Chelsea will be looking to derail Liverpool's treble challenge when they welcome the runaway Premier League leaders to Stamford Bridge in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

Frank Lampard's side go into the game having won just one of their last five outings across all competitions, most recently being held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth on Saturday.

However, they come up against a Liverpool team going through their worst spell of an otherwise stellar season, including a shock 3-0 defeat at Watford which ended their bid for an Invincible campaign.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Tammy Abraham

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Everton)

Lampard remains unsure as to the extent of Tammy Abraham's latest ankle injury, which he suffered during the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. The manager is hopeful that it is nothing serious, but the fact that Abraham has flown to Barcelona to meet a specialist regarding the problem suggests that he could be sidelined for multiple games.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Out
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Everton)

Tuesday's match is likely to come just too soon for N'Golo Kante, who has been sidelined since mid-February with an adductor injury which Lampard estimated would keep him out for three weeks.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Everton)

Lampard revealed in his pre-match press conference that Andreas Christensen picked up a "small issue" against Bournemouth which is likely to rule him out for this match.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: March 3 (vs. Liverpool)

Callum Hudson-Odoi suffered a hamstring injury in training which has now kept him out of the last four matches, and he remains a major doubt for this one, with next weekend's Premier League game against Everton a more likely return date.

Christian Pulisic

Status: Out
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: Unknown

Lampard was very vague in his details regarding Christian Pulisic's fitness, admitting that it was a "difficult" injury but refusing to put a timeframe on his return.

Marco van Ginkel

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marco van Ginkel has not played a match for well over a year due to an ACL injury, and has not played for Chelsea since 2013. The Dutchman is now back on the training field, but it would be a surprise to see him feature for the Blues again.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players who are suspended for this fixture.
