Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Seeking to boost their hopes of securing a top-seven finish in the Premier League, Chelsea welcome relegation-threatened Burnley to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues entered the international break in high spirits following back-to-back home wins over Newcastle United and Leicester City, beating the latter 4-2 to progress to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Mauricio Pochettino and co now shift their attention back to the Premier League where they currently sit 11th in the table, five points behind London rivals West Ham United in seventh and eight points adrift of sixth-placed Manchester United, who they face next Thursday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Vincent Kompany's side.

Romeo Lavia

Chelsea have confirmed that Romeo Lavia, who has featured for just 32 minutes in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, will miss the rest of the season following a setback in his recovery from a "significant thigh injury".

Christopher Nkunku

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Christopher Nkunku, who has been plagued with injuries throughout this season, is currently nursing a hamstring problem, and while a return to first-team action is thought to be not too far away, Saturday's game will likely come too soon for the attacker.

Wesley Fofana

Wesley Fofana has not made a single appearance for Chelsea this season due to a long-term knee injury and the defender is facing a race against time to return before the end of the campaign.

Reece James underwent hamstring surgery just before Christmas and it remains to be seen whether the Chelsea captain will recover before the end of the season.

Lesley Ugochukwu picked up a hamstring injury in the loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Christmas Eve and there is still no timescale on his potential return.

Carney Chukwuemeka

Status: Out Type of issue: Fitness Possible return date: Unknown

Carney Chukwuemeka withdrew from England Under-21 duty last week in order "to work on his fitness at Cobham" and the Blues have since confirmed that the midfielder is now undergoing a rehabilitation programme.

Levi Colwill

Status: Out Type of injury: Toe Possible return date: Unknown

Colwill has missed the last two games with a toe problem and Chelsea have since confirmed that the defender is now undergoing a rehabilitation programme.

Robert Sanchez

Status: Out Type of injury: Unspecified Possible return date: Unknown

Like Chukwuemeka and Colwill, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez will also miss Saturday's game against Burnley as he is undergoing a rehabilitation programme.

Trevoh Chalobah

Status: Out Type of injury: Unspecified Possible return date: Unknown

Chelsea have confirmed that Trevoh Chalobah has taken part in partial team training this week, but Saturday's game will come too soon for the defender, who is nursing an unspecified issue.

Ben Chilwell

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: March 30 (vs. Burnley)

Pochettino has revealed that Ben Chilwell will be assessed ahead of kickoff after the left-back sustained a knock to his knee on international duty with England.

Enzo Fernandez

Status: Minor doubt Type of issue: Fitness Possible return date: March 30 (vs. Burnley)

Pochettino revealed at his press conference on Thursday that Enzo Fernandez is yet to return to the club after representing Argentina in the USA during the international break, making him a doubt for Saturday's clash with Burnley.
