Half-Time Report: Zoltan Gera gives Ferencvaros lead over Chelsea

Zoltan Gera fires Ferencvaros ahead in their pre-season friendly against Chelsea.

A goal from Zoltan Gera has given Hungarian side Ferencvaros a 1-0 lead over Chelsea at half time in their pre-season friendly.

The visitors had the majority of the possession in the opening stages of the match, but Willian struggled to link up with Didier Drogba.

However, the Ivorian had a chance to open the scoring in the ninth minute when Andre Schurrle played the ball forward to Drogba on the edge of the box, but he fired his shot straight at the keeper.

Against the run of play, the hosts took the lead with just over quarter of an hour played as Gera smashed the ball in from a Michal Nalepa cross from close range.

There was an injury concern for Jose Mourinho after just half an hour as Drogba was forced off with an apparent ankle problem.

Schurrle almost got Chelsea back on level terms shortly before the break when he curled a free kick just wide of the post, but the visitors were unable to equalise before the half-time whistle.
