Cahill keen to avoid cup defeat

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has said that he is a stronger player than at this time last year.

Cahill, who was eliminated from the FA Cup at the semi-final stage with Bolton Wanderers a season ago, admits that he learned from the experience and that he will aim to make amends against Tottenham Hostspur this afternoon.

"It was a strange game, because we were in tremendous form going into it," he told The Sun.

"To lose in the manner we did was disappointing. It was a disaster result. We followed it up beating Arsenal but I would have rather switched those results round.

"It was an experience that hurt me for a little while, but one that made me stronger. I hope I can make amends this time round."

Cahill, who made the switch to Stamford Bridge this winter, has made nine appearances for Chelsea so far.
