Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Hull City

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's FA Cup clash with Hull City.

Chelsea will be looking to book their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they travel to Championship side Hull City on Saturday.

The Blues remain fourth in the Premier League table but have only taken one point from their last two league fixtures, losing to Newcastle United and drawing with Arsenal.

Frank Lampard's side booked their spot in the fourth round of this particular competition courtesy of a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on January 5.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: Unknown

Ruben Loftus-Cheek ruptured his Achilles tendon while representing Chelsea in a post-season friendly ahead of the 2019 Europa League final. The England international has not yet made an appearance during the 2019-20 campaign and no return date has been set at this stage.


Christian Pulisic

Possible return date: Unknown

Lampard recently confirmed that Christian Pulisic would be on the sidelines "for a few weeks" having picked up an adductor injury during a training session ahead of the FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest. The United States international is not expected to return until the latter stages of February.

Marco van Ginkel has not played for over a year due to a serious knee injury. The midfielder has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks, though, and is believed to be closing in on a potential return.


Reece James

Possible return date: January 25 (vs. Hull)

Reece James missed out against Arsenal on Tuesday night having picked up a knee problem against Newcastle at the weekend. However, the defender could recover in time for this weekend's FA Cup clash.


Tammy Abraham

Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: January 25 (vs. Hull)

Tammy Abraham appeared to injure his ankle in the latter stages of the clash with Arsenal after colliding with the adverting boards. The England international completed the full 90 minutes, although he was pictured limping after the match. Lampard confirmed in his post-match press conference that the striker suffered "a bang" to his ankle but did not provide a further update.
