Charlton Athletic sack manager Guy Luzon

Charlton Athletic have sacked manager Guy Luzon with immediate effect.

The Israeli coach will leave the struggling Championship club along with assistant head coach Damian Matthew and first-team coach David Martane.

Luzon guided the Addicks to 12th place in the league last term, but leaves them in the relegation zone following Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Brentford.

"Given the recent downturn in results and following Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Brentford which leaves the Addicks in 22nd position, the board felt they had to make a change at this time," said the club in an official statement.

"The club would like to thank the trio for their efforts and a further statement will be made in due course."

Luzon arrived at Charlton in January following a spell with Belgian outfit Standard Liege.
