Saturday's Major League Soccer predictions including Los Angeles FC vs. San Jose

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Los Angeles FC vs. San Jose.

Charlotte FC vs. Cincinnati (Sunday, 12.30am)

FC Cincinnati will be looking to increase their lead at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference when they travel to the Bank of America Stadium to face Charlotte FC on Sunday.

The hosts, meanwhile, find themselves in the bottom half of the table and are seeking to avoid a seventh successive game without a victory.

We say: Charlotte FC 1-3 FC Cincinnati

Despite a recent wobble in form, Cincinnati will be regarded as favourites to come out on top against a struggling Charlotte outfit this weekend.

The visitors have had few problems finding the net so far this season, scoring in all but one of their 20 MLS matches, and we can see them having more joy in front of goal in North Carolina.

Columbus Crew vs. NY City (Sunday, 12.30am)

Columbus Crew forward Christian Ramirez (17) celebrates his goal on June 18, 2023© Reuters

After collecting a first road victory of the MLS campaign last weekend, New York City FC have a chance to claim another first this Saturday, having never beaten the Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field.

Columbus are unbeaten in their last seven domestic outings, drawing Inter Miami 2-2 on Tuesday, while the Pigeons came back to earn a 1-1 draw with Charlotte FC a day later.

We say: Columbus Crew 3-1 New York City FC

The Columbus attack have looked unstoppable at home all year long, and it is difficult to envision the Pigeons' backline being able to keep so many quality players quiet for 90 minutes.

DC United vs. Inter Miami (Sunday, 12.30am)

DC United defender Derrick Williams (3) celebrates with teammates on June 24, 2023© Reuters

In their final fixture before the Tata Martino era begins, Inter Miami travel to the capital city on Saturday, when they visit MLS Eastern Conference rivals DC United.

Inter have taken just two points from their last five league matches to sit bottom of the standings, while United are competing for a playoff place after claiming their eighth win of the season in midweek.

We say: DC United 2-1 Inter Miami

As Inter have conceded 19 goals in their last nine league matches, their second away win of the MLS season is surely not on the agenda this weekend. DC United can be defensively suspect too, but they should prosper on home soil, with Christian Benteke back at Wayne Rooney's disposal.

Montreal vs. Atlanta (Sunday, 12.30am)

Seeking to bounce back from defeat last time out, CF Montreal welcome Atlanta United to Saputo Stadium for an MLS clash in the Eastern Conference on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, are looking to claim all three points away from home for the first time since the middle of March.

We say: CF Montreal 2-1 Atlanta United

Atlanta will be in buoyant mood following last weekend's win and they have made themselves difficult to beat in recent months, but they have largely struggled to come out on top when facing Montreal and we believe that the hosts will edge Sunday's contest to close in on the top seven.

NY Red Bulls vs. New England (Sunday, 12.30am)

New York Red Bulls forward Cameron Harper (17) celebrates his goal with teammates on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Situated at different ends of the MLS Eastern Conference standings, New York Red Bulls and Supporters' Shield contenders New England Revolution clash in Harrison on Saturday.

While the Red Bulls lost last time out and sit 12th in the table, the Revs held runaway leaders Cincinnati to a draw last weekend and occupy third place.

We say: New York Red Bulls 1-1 New England Revolution

Despite last week's defeat, New York Red Bulls have recently turned things around and pose more of a threat to visiting teams. However, New England have racked up 35 goals this season - the fourth-most throughout MLS - and should journey home with at least one point.

Toronto vs. St Louis City (Sunday, 12.30am)

Toronto FC forward Deandre Kerr (29) celebrates after scoring a goal on May 28, 2023© Reuters

For the first time in their MLS existence, St Louis City will head north of the border to BMO Field to battle a struggling Toronto side on Saturday.

Earlier this week, the Reds extended their winless run to seven matches, falling 4-0 at Orlando City, while St Louis have won back-to-back fixtures, blanking the Colorado Rapids on Canada Day 2-0.

We say: Toronto 0-2 St Louis City

There are too many question marks surrounding Toronto at the moment, not just with potential absences, but also the fact that they do not look like a unified team in any way.

On the other hand, St Louis have consistently responded well when faced with adversity, while overall, they simply have more quality and cohesion than TFC.

Chicago Fire vs. Nashville (Sunday, 1.30am)

Chicago Fire forward Kei Kamara (23) celebrates with midfielder Maren Haile-Selassie (7) after scoring a goal on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Aiming to avoid a third successive defeat in front of the Soldier Field faithful, basement battlers Chicago Fire host second-placed Nashville SC on Saturday.

Frank Klopas's side were most recently put to the sword 3-1 by Orlando City, while their visitors ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over DC United.

We say: Chicago Fire 1-2 Nashville SC

Nashville may proudly boast the stingiest rearguard in the 2023 MLS season, but keeping the back door shut away from home has not been their forte in recent weeks, and nor has taking three points home from rival territory.

Zimmerman's absence will do the visitors no favours either, but Nashville are yet to suffer defeat to the out-of-sorts Chicago Fire, who would likely accept another home stalemate against the Boys in Gold but may lack the firepower to attain such a result.

Houston vs. Kansas (Sunday, 1.30am)

Houston Dynamo FC forward Aliyu Ibrahim (18) celebrates his goal with teammates on May 24, 2023© Reuters

Houston Dynamo play host to Sporting Kansas City at the Shell Energy Stadium for an MLS clash in the Western Conference on Saturday night.

The two teams experienced contrasting results last time out, as the Orange Crush narrowly lost to Seattle Sounders while the Wizards comfortably came out on top against Vancouver Whitecaps.

We say: Houston Dynamo 2-1 Sporting Kansas City

Houston's recent blip in form is sure to provide Sporting Kansas City with a boost heading into Sunday's clash as they seek revenge against the Orange Crush following their slender defeat at the Shell Energy Stadium two months ago.

However, we believe that the hosts will return to winning ways in front of their home supporters and consolidate their place inside the top seven.

Minnesota Utd vs. Austin (Sunday, 1.30am)

Austin FC midfielder Ethan Finlay (13) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Minnesota United welcome Austin FC to Allianz Field in Sunday morning's MLS action.

Adrian Heath's team seek consecutive victories after defeating struggling Portland Timbers 4-1, while Austin look to continue their unbeaten run in the competition.

We say: Minnesota United 1-1 Austin FC

Minnesota should avoid defeat against in-form Austin, but both sides are expected to cancel each other out in a score draw at Allianz Field.

Colorado vs. Dallas (Sunday, 2.30am)

Dallas celebrates after FC Dallas forward Bernard Kamungo (77) scores a goal on July 2, 2023© Reuters

Cellar-dwelling Colorado Rapids seek to leave the bottom of the MLS table when they welcome Dallas to DSG Park on Sunday morning.

Colorado are winless in the competition since the start of May, while Dallas have been beaten in three of their last four league fixtures.

We say: Colorado Rapids 0-2 Dallas

Colorado's wretched home results look set to continue against Dallas, who should put their recent defeats behind them with a routine victory on Sunday.

Salt Lake vs. Orlando City (Sunday, 2.30am)

Real Salt Lake midfielder Maikel Chang (16) celebrates after scoring a goal on May 10, 2023© Reuters

Sunday morning's MLS action brings the Western Conference face-to-face with the Eastern Conference when Real Salt Lake hosts Orlando City at America First Field.

Salt Lake are undefeated in all competitions since the start of June, while Orlando are on a four-game unbeaten run in the league.

We say: Real Salt Lake 1-2 Orlando City

Despite failing to win their last two on the road, Orlando are expected to claim a slender win over Salt Lake, whose egregious home form should result in a fifth defeat in front of their supporters.

LA Galaxy vs. Philadelphia (Sunday, 3.30am)

Los Angeles Galaxy (LA Galaxy) forward Preston Judd (31) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Los Angeles Galaxy will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to seven matches when Philadelphia Union visit Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday.

Despite securing a key victory over arch-rivals Los Angeles FC last time out, the Galaxy remain second from bottom in the Western Conference, while Philly find themselves fifth in the Eastern Conference.

We say: Los Angeles Galaxy 0-1 Philadelphia Union

Granted, the Galaxy have upped their game in recent weeks, but Philadelphia possess more than enough quality to overcome the Western Conference strugglers.

The hosts are expected to put up a decent fight, but we can see Philly notching a narrow victory at Dignity Health Sports Park, enjoying a much-needed return to winning ways.

Los Angeles vs. Earthquakes (Sunday, 3.30am)

Los Angeles FC (LAFC) midfielder Mateusz Bogusz (19) celebrates goal with teammates on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Reigning MLS Cup champions Los Angeles FC will be eager to halt a rare three-game losing streak when they host San Jose Earthquakes at BMO Stadium on Saturday.

LAFC suffered a derby defeat against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday, while San Jose also faced the Galaxy in their previous match, playing out a 2-2 draw last weekend.

We say: Los Angeles FC 2-1 San Jose Earthquakes

Ultimately, it is difficult to imagine the reigning MLS Cup champions suffering four successive defeats, especially when you consider the quality of LAFC's squad.

We expect Saturday's clash to be a tense and cagey affair as the hosts aim to end their losing run, but Cherundolo's side should have enough firepower to edge out San Jose.

Vancouver vs. Seattle (Sunday, 3.30am)

Vancouver Whitecaps forward Brian White (24) celebrates with teammates on June 24, 2023© Reuters

The Seattle Sounders will continue their pursuit of Western Conference glory when they face the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on Saturday.

Brian Schmetzer's boys find themselves second in the West – three points behind St Louis City – while the Canadian club occupy ninth place in the standings.

We say: Vancouver Whitecaps 2-2 Seattle Sounders

Having ended a five-game winless run last time out, Seattle will be determined to pick up another positive result this weekend, but Vancouver look set to give the Sounders a run for their money.

Given that Vancouver have netted 22 goals across their previous 10 MLS outings, we expect the Whitecaps to instigate a high-scoring encounter on Saturday, although the points will likely be shared.
