Caldwell: 'Hooper should stay at Celtic'

Former Celtic centre-back Gary Caldwell believes that the Champions League tie with Juventus should make Gary Hooper want to stay at the Scottish club.

Former Celtic defender Gary Caldwell has questioned whether it is the right time for Gary Hooper to leave the Scottish champions.

The striker has been linked with a move to Norwich City in January but Caldwell believes that the 24-year-old should stay in Glasgow to experience the Champions League fixtures against Juventus.

"If I was a player in Gary's position, then the Juventus games would be a huge pull to stay," the Wigan Athletic centre-back told

"To have that chance of playing Juventus home and away and get to a stage of the quarter-finals of the European Cup that no Scottish club has ever reached in modern times would be a big pull for any footballer.

"It will be a difficult dilemma should the club accept a bid and Gary has a decision to make."

Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes that Hooper will stay until at least the end of the season.
