Celtic maintain 100% record over Aberdeen

Captain Scott Brown is the match-winner as champions Celtic claim all three points away at Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic recorded their fourth win of the season over Aberdeen this afternoon thanks to captain Scott Brown scoring the game's only goal shortly after the restart.

It was the hosting Dons that started the brighter of the two sides at Pittodrie, with former Celtic midfielder Barry Robson twice going close.

The veteran's first effort from distance forced visiting goalkeeper Craig Gordon into action, while his second flew just wide of the target.

Those were to be the only meaningful efforts of the first half, but, just four minutes after the restart, the champions went in front.

Brown launched a counter-attack and when the ball was eventually cutback by Stuart Armstrong, the skipper was on hand to fire a shot beyond the reach of his namesake in the home goal. It was the 29-year-old's fifth goal of the season and his second in as many outings.

The goal sprung Celtic into life and they would have doubled their advantage in the 58th minute but for goalkeeper Brown, who made a double save to deny Leigh Griffiths and then Kris Commons.

The Bhoys continued to control proceedings as the encounter wore on and comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to claim a 1-0 victory.

The result has moved Celtic 14 points clear of their hosts, who stay second in the Scottish Premiership table.
