Celtic edge out St Mirren

Celtic extend their 23-game unbeaten streak in the Scottish Premier League with a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren in Glasgow this afternoon.

Celtic have extended their 23-game unbeaten streak in the Scottish Premier League with a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren in Glasgow this afternoon.

Kris Commons's 22nd goal of the campaign proved enough for the Bhoys to prolong their ambition of recording an undefeated season, as Neil Lennon's men stay 21 points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen in the standings.

The hosts took the lead after just six minutes when Commons fired past Marion Kello from 30 yards.

Lennon's troops spurned two good opportunities to extend their lead toward the end of the half, with new signing Stefan Johansen dragging wide of the mark from a good position, before James Forrest cut inside his marker only to see his power effort well saved by Kello.

The visitors failed in their bid to restore parity and the reigning champions held out for a narrow win.
