Celtic deny Tonev racism allegations

Celtic have denied allegations made by Aberdeen that winger Aleksandar Tonev racially abused Shay Logan during Saturday's Scottish Premiership encounter.

The Dons claimed that the 24-year-old directed a racial slur in the direction of Logan during their 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

Referee Bobby Madden was informed immediately, while Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes and captain Mark Reynolds were also made aware of the alleged comment.

However, in a statement released to Sky Sports News, Celtic responded by saying: "We have spoken to the player and he has stated that the accusation made is not true."

Tonev joined the Hoops on loan from Aston Villa during the summer.
