Lennon: 'Old Firm games not a big loss'

Celtic boss Neil Lennon believes that European football has filled the void left by Rangers following their relegation to the Scottish Third Division.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has claimed that he hasn't noticed a difference since Old Firm rivals Rangers were removed from the SPL.

Rangers were relegated to the Scottish Third Division this season after suffering financial troubles and having to find a newco club, bringing an end to the annual Old Firm derbies between the two clubs.

However, Lennon believes that the return of Champions League football has filled the void left by Rangers.

"I haven't detected much of a difference. Eventually you move on. There has been a hole there but it is up to other clubs to fill that void," said Lennon.

"The games have been very competitive, the crowds have been good, and some of the football has been good.

"So at the minute, in terms of finances we will miss the four Old Firm games but it is not a huge loss from a footballing sense because obviously the European games will make up for that."

Celtic, who have not won in three games, face Dundee in their next match.
