Celtic will be without captain Scott Brown for eight to ten weeks as he undergoes an ankle operation.

Celtic captain Scott Brown will be out of action for eight to ten weeks with an ankle injury, the Scottish club have confirmed.

The 26-year-old originally sustained the problem while on international duty with Scotland in August.

He has made numerous attempts to return to Neil Lennon's side, but has not featured since last month's Old Firm defeat at Ibrox.

The club have now revealed that the former Hibernian midfielder will undergo a "minor procedure" on his right ankle, ruling him out until the Christmas period.
