Celtic charged over offensive banner

Celtic have been charged by UEFA for an offensive banner displayed by the Scottish club's supporters and setting off fireworks during a Europa League match against Udinese.

The European governing body have confirmed that the Scottish Premier League side will undergo disciplinary proceedings following the separate incidents during Celtic's 1-1 draw with Udinese in their final Europa League match last Thursday.

This is the second time the club have been in trouble with UEFA this month after they were fined for illicit chanting against Rennes in the same competition.

The case will be heard on January 26, 2012.
