Augusto Fernandez signs new Celta Vigo deal

Experienced midfielder Augusto Fernandez has signed a new long-term contract with Celta Vigo.

The 29-year-old has made 30 appearances for the Spanish side this season and was a key contributor to their strong end to the campaign.

"He's an incredibly important player on the team and his behaviour since arriving to the club has been tremendous. He's an important piece of our organization," Celta president Carlos Mourino said in an official statement.

The Argentine international, who joined Celta from Velez Sarsfield in 2012, will now be contracted to the Spanish team until the summer of 2019.
