Warnock: 'I was excited for South Wales derby'

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has said that he is "disappointed" about not being able to manage his side in a South Wales derby next season.

Warnock's record eighth career promotion comes as Swansea look doomed for the Championship, needing to overturn a nine-goal deficit on the final day to avoid relegation.

The manager told Wales Online that he would have liked to experience the atmosphere in the derby between the clubs.

"I know it sounds silly, but I'm disappointed about Swansea, if I'm honest," Warnock said. "I know it sounds tongue-in-cheek, but I mean it.

"I like [Swansea manager] Carlos [Carvalhal] and I was looking forward to that. I've not experienced a Welsh derby."

Cardiff's promotion will see them play in the top flight for the first time since 2014, when the Bluebirds were relegated.
