Russell Slade bemoans lack of red card in Huddersfield Town draw

Slade bemoans key referee decision

Russell Slade believes that a key decision which went against Cardiff City in yesterday's stalemate at Huddersfield Town cost his side all three points.

Terriers defender Tommy Smith brought down Kenwyne Jones on the edge of the box in the first half and was shown just a yellow card by referee Mark Heywood, despite being the last man between Jones and goal.

Neither team were able to break the deadlock at the John Smith's Stadium to ensure that the shares were spoiled.

Speaking after the game, Slade is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "It was only a yellow card and probably the referee thought we didn't have control of the ball. Arguably we did.

"We got hacked down on the edge of the box but it was a difficult one for the referee. If we had been at home, it may have gone our way."

Cardiff, now without a win in seven Championship games, are still in danger of the drop with just seven points between them and the relegation zone.
