Mackay: 'Cornelius in fitness race for season opener'

Cardiff City striker Andreas Cornelius could miss his side's Premier League opener against West Ham United after picking up an ankle injury.

The 20-year-old, who signed for the Bluebirds this summer, damaged his ankle during a training session.

Manager Malky Mackay told reporters: "We are working to get him back for the start of the season. His ankle is sore but he is back running."

Cardiff have also signed defender Steven Caulker and goalkeeper Simon Moore this summer.
