Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hails "perfect start" to Cardiff City career

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that his sides 2-1 FA Cup third-round victory over Newcastle United was a "perfect start" to his reign as Bluebirds boss.

Newly-appointed Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed his "perfect start" after his first game in charge of the Bluebirds ended in a 2-1 victory away at Newcastle United in the FA Cup third round this afternoon.

Second-half goals from substitutes Craig Noone and Frazier Campbell saw Cardiff come from behind to win, and Solskjaer was pleased with the "great character" shown by his team.

"It's a perfect start to our new time," the 40-year-old told the club's official website. "It's never easy to come here and play. The lads showed great character.

"It pleased me a lot the way they came back from behind. When you turn games around like we did it's fantastic. We deserved it today.

"This was a great start, but thoughts now turn immediately to next Saturday's game against West Ham."

Solskjaer was named as the new Cardiff manager on Thursday.
