Fleetwood Town goalkeeper joins Cambridge United on loan

Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has joined Cambridge United on loan until January.

The 22-year-old has yet to make a first-team appearance for Fleetwood since signing from Wrexham in May 2012.

"In agreeing a long-term loan for Chris," Cambridge director of football Jez George told the club's official website. "We have a goalkeeper of undoubted ability and a proven track record in this league.

"He is highly rated and we are absolutely delighted to have acquired his services at least until the January transfer window."

Maxwell spent the second half of last season back at Wrexham on loan, making 17 starts in the Blue Square Premier Division.
