Cambridge United sign non-League striker

Cambridge United have signed Concord Rangers striker Jordan Chiedozie on an permanent contract.

The 20-year-old striker joins the League Two club on an 18-month contract after having an impressive season with the Conference South side, scoring seven times in 11 appearances.

United's chief executive Jez George told BBC Sport: "Jordan was a non-contract player at Concord, which enabled us to sign him outside the transfer window."

"We were aware of a number of far bigger clubs showing an interest in him, so we've worked really hard and really quickly to secure his signature.

"We would like to thank Concord Rangers for their help and co-operation. We have huge respect for them. They have had great success over the last few years and they are doing a fantastic job in developing young players."

Chiedozie's 30-yard strike was enough to earn a replay with Mansfield Town in the FA Cup, which Concord went on to lose 1-0.
