Cambridge United players told not to swap shirts after Manchester United clash

Cambridge players told not to swap shirts

Cambridge United manager Richard Money has warned his players not to swap shirts with their Manchester United counterparts after this weekend's FA Cup meeting between the two sides.

The League Two outfit's boss said that the club does not have the funds to fork out for new kits, and told his team that they will have to pay for replacement tops if they give theirs away.

"We're not wealthy enough to give any of our shirts away," The Express quotes Money as saying. "We only have two strips, so if they give their shirt away they're going to have to replace it.

"It would appear that in the Premier League they give their shirt away after every game - sometimes at half time. I don't understand why a top-class player would want another top-class player's shirt at half time.

"If one of our players was trying to swap a shirt at half time you could understand it - but they won't as they wouldn't have anything to wear in the second half."

Cambridge stand to make £500,000 from their fourth-round clash with the Red Devils.
