Preview: Accrington Stanley vs. Burton Albion - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Friday's League One clash between Accrington Stanley and Burton Albion, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Accrington Stanley and Burton Albion meet on Good Friday with both clubs looking to move ever closer to the mid-table positions in the League One standings.

The home side currently sit three places and five points clear of their opponents, although both clubs can claim to have posted encouraging results last time out.

On the back of six defeats from eight matches, Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would have been aware that he was given the club's hierarchy numerous reasons to make a change in the dugout during the summer.

However, while that could still happen, posting goalless draws against two of the top four teams in the division has earned the Dutchman some breathing space.

While it is worth noting that the Brewers have now gone four games without finding the back of the net, keeping their first clean sheets since the end of November should be taken in a positive light, particularly with Plymouth Argyle and Wigan Athletic being the opposition.

Sitting 11 points clear of the relegation zone with four matches remaining, Burton are realistically already safe, but Hasselbaink will want to ensure that his side finish no lower than their current 17th place.

Burton have not recorded a league win on their travels since January 29, a run which has featured six defeats and four in succession.

Accrington's poor form has been in the short term, a five-match winless streak being put together before last weekend's short trip to Fleetwood Town.

Having suffered 13 defeats in 20 league games away from home, Stanley were the clear underdogs, but they came from behind to keep their hosts in relegation trouble.

Although they have failed to keep a clean sheet for 12 games, getting another three points on the board by any means necessary was the priority for John Coleman.

Sitting seven points adrift of 11th-placed Bolton Wanderers, 12th spot is the more realistic aim, although Coleman may head into this closing quartet of games with plans already underway for next season.

Team News

While Ross Sykes is available again after a two-match suspension, the Accrington centre-back may only be named among the replacements.

Several changes are expected, however, with Joe Pritchard, Liam Coyle and Korede Adedoyin all making an impact from the substitutes' bench versus Fleetwood.

Matt Butcher, Tommy Leigh and John O'Sullivan may drop out of the team as a result.

On the back of successive clean sheets, Hasselbaink is unlikely to tinker with the defensive and midfield areas of his Burton XI.

However, Louis Moult and Oumar Niasse are both options in attack, with Harry Chapman potentially dropping back into a deeper role.

Accrington Stanley possible starting lineup:
Savin; Clark, Rich-Baghuelou, Nottingham, Rodgers; Adedoyin, Coyle, Pritchard, Hamilton, McConville; Bishop

Burton Albion possible starting lineup:
Kovar; Hughes, Brayford, Oshilaja; Hamer, Mancienne, Borthwick-Jackson, Kokolo; Chapman; Moult, Niasse

We say: Accrington Stanley 2-1 Burton Albion

Until Burton are mathematically safe from relegation, they will remain focused on getting the point that they require to secure their third-tier status for another 12 months. However, we feel that the extra freedom will benefit Accrington, who could add a 12th home win to their collection.
