Burton Albion promoted, Blackpool relegated

Burton Albion gain promotion to the Championship after their 0-0 draw away at Doncaster, while Blackpool head for League Two.

Burton Albion will be playing their football in the Championship next season.

A 0-0 draw away at Doncaster Rovers this afternoon secured the second automatic promotion spot for Nigel Clough's men behind champions Wigan Athletic.

It means that Walsall have been forced to settle for a place in the playoffs, despite recording a hefty 5-0 win away at Port Vale, while Doncaster go down.

Staying with the playoffs, Barnsley managed to squeeze their way in ahead of Scunthorpe United courtesy of their 4-1 triumph at Wigan.

However, there was not such positive news for Blackpool, who were thrashed 5-1 at Peterborough United and consequently relegated.

As a result, Bloomfield Road will be hosting League Two football next term, when just five years ago Pool were a Premier League outfit.
