Report: Burnley fail with Dale Stephens bid

Burnley fail with a £4m bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens, according to a report.

Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly turned down a £4m bid from Burnley for Dale Stephens.

It is understood that Burnley are in the market for new midfielders this summer and according to a recent report, Derby County have rejected the club's interest in Republic of Ireland international Jeff Hendrick.

The Daily Mail reports that Sean Dyche's side, who will play Premier League football next season, have since launched a £4m bid for Stephens, but Brighton were not prepared to entertain the offer and quickly turned it down.

Stephens, 27, scored seven times in 45 Championship matches last season.
