Jason Shackell has admitted that Burnley got a 'monkey off their backs' by securing their first win of the Premier League season against Hull City on Saturday.
Ashley Barnes headed the Clarets to a 1-0 victory at Turf Moor, and captain Shackell is hopeful that the result will give Burnley the confidence to get a winning run going after the international break.
"It's a huge weight lifted," he told reporters. "Obviously everybody has been talking about it for the last few weeks so it's nice to sort of get that monkey off our backs and get the three points.
"Winning automatically breeds confidence and that can only be a good thing for us.
"It's a nice time for a little break to come now. We can regroup. We've left it on a good note and get ready to go again after. I think it's come at the perfect time for us. We can get together rebuild. It's going to be a nice place to be for the next couple of weeks and then come back and we've got a good run of games after."
Burnley remain bottom of the table, having only collected four points from their previous 10 games this term.
