Danny Ings: 'Burnley fans abused me over contract situation'

Ings reveals abuse from own fans

Burnley striker Danny Ings has revealed that he has received abuse from his own fans because of his refusal to sign a new deal at Turf Moor.

The forward, who has scored 10 goals this term for the Clarets, is out of contract in the summer and has yet to sign a new deal at the Lancashire club.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with the 23-year-old, who has represented England at under-21 level.

Ings is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "Not for one minute of this season have I not been committed to performing for this football club, regardless of my contract situation.

"Everyone who knows me personally and people around the club know that I give 100 per cent for the team and for the fans.

"I had to turn off my Twitter notifications for a while as I got a small minority of people sending me some abusive tweets. That did upset me a little bit because of everything this club means to me."

Burnley will be playing in the Championship next season after being relegated despite a 1-0 win against Hull City last weekend.
