Dyche laughs off Trippier's darts card

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has revealed that former player Kieran Trippier 'warned' that he would make a reference to him at the PDC World Darts Championship.

During Wednesday's play at the Alexandra Palace, Trippier - who previously played for the Clarets under Dyche - held up a card saying 'Ginger Mourinho = Sean Dyche'.

The gesture was laughed off by Dyche, who admitted that the Tottenham Hotspur right-back had used the nickname during his time in the North-West.

The 46-year-old told reporters: "He used to call me that in training all the time I don't know where he got it from.

"That's the kind of connection I have with my players, or ex-players in this case. He did warn me by text, he may have had a lager shandy. [It was] a bit of fun."

Trippier left Burnley for Spurs in 2015, making 58 appearances in all competitions since the completion of the transfer.
